Tom Dixon is the chief technology officer of New York City-based online brand management company, Yext.
In 2000, at the beginning of his career, Dixon launched the humorous website, JustATip.com, with his former high school classmates, Sean MacIsaac and Howard Lerman. Following a spike in traffic after being featured on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, the trio sold the website to online marketing company, Traffix, for $150,000.
Dixon, Lerman, and MacIsaac then founded Intwine, a consulting firm specializing in Microsoft’s .NET programming language. By 2005, Dixon had helped Intwine’s annual sales reach $5 million, leading to the company’s sale to Daltran Media, a digital marketing technology company. Dixon became the chief information officer of Daltran Media during the acquisition.
After Lerman founded Yext in 2006, the company had initial success in lead-generation services via recorded customer phone calls. Dixon joined the team in 2010 as chief operating officer, supervising engineering and development of the company’s product portfolio as Yext began the process of pivoting its business model to aid companies in updating their online business listings.
Dixon transitioned to his current role as CTO in 2017, with a focus on expanding Yext’s services into AI-powered customer search and webpages.
That same year, Yext debuted on the New York Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of $2 billion.
Forbes listed Yext as one of America’s Top 25 Most Promising Companies in 2014 and 2015. Yext has also been recognized as one of America’s fastest-growing companies by the Inc. 5000 in 2015 and 2016, and as one of Fortune’s Best Places to Work from 2014 to 2016.
Dixon holds a degree in philosophy from Princeton University, where he graduated with highest honors.
