Brett C. A key pillar of this is continuing Xcel Energy’s industry leadership in transportation electrification and the growth of electric-vehicle ownership and infrastructure. In his role, Carter ensures the alignment between the company’s customer strategy and the operating companies which engage with numerous stakeholders and policymakers to achieve constructive regulatory outcomes for the benefit of our customers in the eight states we serve.
Carter joined Xcel Energy after holding senior leadership roles with Bank of America, overseeing key business areas of operations, technology and shared services. In addition, he previously held leadership roles in operations, marketing, and technology at several major utilities, including Duke Energy, Aquila, and Dominion.
Carter holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Clarion University, an MBA with an emphasis on Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh and has completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
He currently serves on the board of directors for Greater MSP | Forge North, EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute), MSP Enterprise Transformation, The FastBreak Foundation, the Edison Foundation’s Institute for Electric Innovation (IEI), Graco, Inc. He was also appointed to the Governor's Council on Minnesota's Economic Future.
