Jeff Trom, Ph.D., is the executive vice president and chief technology officer for Workiva. Jeff currently leads the development of all aspects of Workiva’s open, intelligent and intuitive cloud platform. Jeff has brought visionary leadership to the Workiva platform and holds several patents for his innovations used in Workiva technology.
As the CTO, Jeff oversees all product development and management, shapes product priorities and direction, and the research and development teams to continuously innovate our cloud solutions. He is one of Workiva’s leading technology experts and has helped to grow the technology team from its inception. His leadership and expertise helps to guide strategic sales opportunities, drive product innovations, and provide deep industry knowledge on market leading solutions.
Prior to joining Workiva in 2008, Jeff was a co-founder of Engineering Animation International (EAI). As the company’s chief technology officer, he spent 10 years leading software architecture, development and deployment. EAI was acquired in 2000 by Unigraphics Solutions (now part of Siemens USA).
Jeff is a frequent speaker on the growth of tech start-ups in Montana and lends his expertise and time to help support new tech entrepreneurs in the region. He served on the Montana High Tech Business Alliance board of directors and is now an advisory board member of Montana State University’s Gianforte School of Computing. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa and a Doctorate from Iowa State University.
