Marta Benson is the President of Pottery Barn.
Benson has spent the past four years revitalizing the heritage brand, with a clear vision of establishing Pottery Barn as America's most meaningful, beautiful design source by bringing together good products, people and values. She has led a sweeping digital transformation, effectively evolving the brand beyond catalogs and retail and accelerating digital growth during disruptive times. She has also honed the brand's core pillars, amplifying inspiration, quality, sustainability and service every day and in everything Pottery Barn does.
Benson joined Williams-Sonoma, Inc. in 2011 where, in her prior role as SVP, Strategy and Business Development, she spearheaded the acquisition of Rejuvenation, a Portland-based lighting and house-parts brand. She also incubated and developed Mark and Graham, a personalized gift-giving brand celebrating the artful mingling of typography and design.
Benson brings more than 30 years of retail, merchandising and marketing experience with both start-up and legacy brands that all share a commitment to quality. Some of her additional career highlights include serving as CEO of Gump's, where she was hired to lead the turnaround of the 150-year-old San Francisco brand, and driving exponential growth at Restoration Hardware, where she took the brand from 10 to 100 stores—and its direct-to-consumer business from zero dollars to $220 million—in just six years.
Benson holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Wesleyan University.
