Mr. Nevels founded The Swarthmore Group in 1991.  He has nearly 40 years of experience in the securities and investment industry.  Mr. Nevels serves on the Board of Directors of two public companies –  Alcoa Corporation and WestRock (Lead Independent Director from 2017-2019).  He is also a member of Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Presidential Advisory Committee, OFR Financial Research Advisory Committee and the Council on Foreign Relations. 

In December 2001, the Governor of Pennsylvania appointed Mr. Nevels as Chairman of the Philadelphia School Reform Commission to oversee the turnaround of the financially distressed Philadelphia School System, then the ninth largest school district in the United States.  Mr. Nevels served as Chairman until September 2007. 

Mr. Nevels was appointed by President Bush to the Advisory Committee to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation in 2004.  He served as Chairman from 2005-2007.  Mr. Nevels also served as Chairman (2009-2015) and Lead Independent Director (2015-2017) of The Hershey Company, member of the Board of the Hershey Trust Company and Milton Hershey School, Chair and member of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, member of the Board of First Data, member of the Board of XL Group, member of the Board of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, member of the Board of MMG Insurance Company, member of the Board of Tasty Baking Company, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Pro Football Hall of Fame (current emeritus member).

Mr. Nevels received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University (cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa), as well as his MBA from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and JD from The University of Pennsylvania Law School, which he completed at the same time.  Mr. Nevels is currently working on his LL.M. in Wealth Management through Texas A&M University.  Mr. Nevels has also received four honorary degrees.

In addition, this segment manufactures and sells solid fiber and corrugated partitions, and die-cut paperboard components. The Global Paper segment manufactures containerboard, paperboard, and specialty grades primarily to corrugated packaging, folding carton, food service, liquid packaging, tobacco, and commercial print markets. The Distribution segment distributes corrugated packaging materials and other specialty packaging products, including stretch films, void fills, carton sealing tapes, and other specialty tapes; and provides contract packing services. The company is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
