Patrick Maroney Biography and Net Worth

Patrick F. Maroney is the Kathryn Magee Kip Professor Emeritus, Department of Risk Management/ Insurance, Florida State University. He was a faculty member at Florida State University from 1981 until his retirement in 2013. He was the founding director of the Florida Catastrophic Storm Risk Management Center in 2008 and held that position until his retirement in 2013. Prior to that position he served as the associate dean for Graduate Programs in the College of Business from 2003 until January 2008. He also served as MBA director from 2001 until 2003 and as the Chairman of the Risk Management and Insurance Department from 1994 until the fall semester of 2001. Prior to entering an academic career, he was an attorney with the Florida Department of Insurance, house counsel with CNA Insurance, and personal lines manager with West Coast Insurors in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He has served as president of the Southern Risk and Insurance Association, the Florida CFO’s Risk Management Advisory Council, and the NCCI Insurance Fraud Commission among many other committees. He has also served as a board member of American Coastal Insurance Company, Florida Home Builders Insurance and First Floridian Auto and Home Insurance Company. Professor Maroney authored or co-authored more than fifty articles and books. Professor Maroney’s research concentration was in the area of insurance law and regulation. Articles have appeared in the Journal of Insurance Regulation, Risk Management and Insurance Review, Florida State University Law Review, Florida Bar Journal, Journal of Insurance Issues, Insurance Counsel Journal, and the American Business Law Journal. He presented papers at regional and national academic conferences. He received a Teaching Incentive Program award for excellence in teaching and has been named Student Organization Advisor of the Year.
