Masahiko Maeda was born on February 10, 1969. He graduated from Tohoku University with a master's degree in engineering in March 1994, and joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in April the same year.
In July 2015, Mr. Maeda was appointed project general manager of Vehicle Architecture Planning Department, TNGA Planning Division. In April 2016, he was made project general manager of Strategic Top Executive Meeting Office. In July 2016, he was appointed chief engineer of ZB, CVZ, CV Company. In January 2018, he was promoted to managing officer and also became president of Emerging-market Compact Car Company.
In January 2019, Mr. Maeda was promoted to operating officer and became deputy chief executive officer of China & Asia region, chairman and president of Toyota Daihatsu Engineering & Manufacturing Co., Ltd., as well as chairman of P.T. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia. In January 2020, he was made president of Powertrain Company. In April of the same year, he was appointed chief technology officer, and president of the Vehicle Development Center.
In January 2021, he became chief officer of Toyota ZEV Factory. In April 2022, he was appointed executive vice president. In June 2022, he became a member of the board of directors.
