He also served as President of Georgia Power from 2011 to 2020. Prior to his most recent position, he was Chief Financial Officer of Southern Company, where he was rated by Institutional Investors magazine as one of the industry’s “Top Three CFOs in America.” Paul joined Southern Company in 1979 and held executive leadership positions at multiple subsidiaries.
 
Paul currently serves on the board of AFLAC (insurance company) as the lead non-management director. He also serves on the boards of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Brand Safeway (private construction and civil engineering firm), and as curator for the Georgia Historical Society.
