Roper joined Vita Coco as president in 2019 after retiring from his 17-year run as Boston Beer Company’s president and CEO. In January 2021, he became Vita Coco’s co-CEO and a director of the company’s board.

Roper began his tenure as president and CEO of Boston Beer Company in 2001. He led America’s largest craft brewer through a season of organic growth by generating industry-leading shareholder returns and leading in the areas of diversification, operations and brand innovation.

His career with Boston Beer took off in 1994 when he was tapped to be the company’s vice president of manufacturing and business development. It was a title he held for three years before becoming president and chief operating officer in 1997 and subsequently moving on to the role of CEO.

Roper’s early career is characterized by a variety of leadership roles beginning as an associate consultant with Boston Consulting Group in London and including stints at both Blacksom & Co and Steelworks Inc.
