J. Thompson Biography and Net Worth

Mr. Thompson joined our Board in April 2007. Since 2000, he has been the President/Chief Executive Officer and a co-owner of Pacific Star Energy, LLC, a private energy investment firm in Alaska. Mr. Thompson served as Managing Director of the Alaska Venture Capital Group LLC, a private oil and gas exploration firm, from 2004 to 2012. From 1998 to 2000, he was the Executive Vice President for ARCO’s Asia-Pacific Region. In this role, Mr. Thompson led ARCO’s Asia-Pacific operating companies. In previous positions, Mr. Thompson was head of ARCO’s oil and gas research and technology center, and was responsible for global technology strategy and energy technology transfer to more than 20 countries. Mr. Thompson served in various technical and management roles at ARCO from 1974 to 2000. Mr. Thompson has served as a director of Alaska Air Group, Inc., a holding company for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air Industries, since 1999, and is the chair of its compensation committee and a member of its safety committee. He has served as a director of Coeur Mining, Inc. since 2002, and is a member of its governance/nominating and audit committees, and the chair of its safety/environmental committee. Mr. Thompson has served as a director of Pioneer Natural Resources Company, a large independent oil and gas exploration and production company, since August 2011, and is a member of its governance/nominating and compensation committees, and the chair of its safety/environmental committee. He also serves on the board of Provision Ministry Group, a nonprofit organization.
