He previously served as chairman of the board, chief executive officer and president of General Nutrition Companies, Inc. (NYSE: GNC; predecessor to GNC Holdings, Inc.), a global specialty retailer of health and wellness products, from 2005 to 2014 and was a consultant from 2014 to 2016.
From 1990 to 2005, he served in various executive roles with General Nutrition Companies, Inc., including senior executive vice president and chief operating officer, executive VP of retail operations and store development, and senior VP of financial operations.
Fortunato earned his undergraduate degree in Finance at Duquesne University in 1975.
