Teresa Briggs is a senior executive with deep experience in strategy, business transformation, and governance. She currently serves on the boards of ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), Warby Parker and Snowflake.
Teresa previously served as a Vice Chair & West Region and San Francisco Managing Partner of Deloitte, and as Managing Partner, Silicon Valley. Deloitte is the world’s largest professional services firm and provides audit, tax, financial advisory, and consulting services to more than 20 industry sectors in over 150 countries. Approximately 80% of the Fortune 500 turn to Deloitte for strategies that create shareholder value.
A financial, digital, and M&A expert with a uniquely broad and deep perspective into the challenges facing many of the world’s most innovative companies, Teresa built Deloitte’s U.S. West Region into a $3.0B business. Working with a wide range of clients including TPG, Nordstrom, Yelp, McKesson, and PG&E, Teresa earned her reputation as one of the most trusted advisors in the Bay Area. Additionally, from 2005 to her retirement, she led Deloitte’s global relationship with Apple, which spans a momentous period including the release of the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch and saw Apple increase its market capitalization from less than $10B to more than $1T. She was integral to establishing Deloitte’s enterprise alliance with Apple, focused on enabling people to “work the way they live” by digitally transforming companies. This prompted Apple CEO Tim Cook to describe Deloitte as “the ideal partner”.
Teresa has been a stabilizing force in the C-suite and boardroom of influential companies across the technology, retail, consumer products, and healthcare industries. Displaying foresight and expertise, she has designed effective strategies to overcome today’s biggest challenges, particularly around digital transformation, enterprise risk, cybersecurity, and other vitally important strategic and operational issues. Teresa’s governance experience extends from her time in the boardrooms of many of her major clients to Deloitte’s U.S. board of directors, where she served on committees overseeing compensation, M&A, risk and regulatory matters (including cyber), and large internal investments. An established thought leader, Teresa created Deloitte’s onBoarding Academy, a board readiness program, and she has demonstrated her commitment to board diversity through creation of Deloitte’s Women on Boards program.
From September 2019 through August 2020, Teresa is enrolled as a Fellow at Stanford University’s Distinguished Careers Institute. Given her Audit and M&A Partner experience and extensive boardroom experience, she qualifies as a financial expert and is well-equipped for board and Audit Committee service. She would also help a board address key issues including digital transformation, human capital, governance, and M&A.
In addition to her board responsibilities at Deloitte, she has held a number of governance roles with professional and community organizations. She served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Bay Area Council, and the boards of directors for the California Academy of Sciences and the University of Arizona Eller College of Management.
She is a frequent speaker on topics including corporate board diversity, sponsorship and inclusion, and was a Stanford Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders speaker.
