It was during his undergraduate years at Stanford that Spiegel founded Snap with classmates, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown. Spiegel has donated around $154 million in Snap stock, and he and co-founder, Murphy, have pledged 13 million shares to the Snap Foundation throughout the next two decades. The foundation is a non-profit dedicated to supporting arts and education for underrepresented youth in the Los Angeles area.
Spiegel returned to Stanford in 2018 to complete the degree program he left behind, earning his B.S. in engineering. He is married to Australian model, Miranda Kerr, and the couple has two young children together, as well as one from Kerr's previous marriage.
