Prior to WebMD, Jeff founded Quality Diagnostic Services (QDS), a cardiac arrhythmia monitoring company that was one of the first organizations to use the concept of telemedicine over 25 years ago.
Jeff has been widely recognized for his innovative contributions to media, healthcare, and technology throughout the years, including EY naming him Entrepreneur Of The Year in the Southeast twice – first after founding WebMD (1999) and again for Sharecare (2019) – making him one of the few people in history to receive the award for two different companies. He also was inducted into the American Academy of Achievement and named a Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum; and Johns Hopkins University presented him with the Blumenthal Award in recognition of his exceptional ability to bridge business and technology. For Jeff’s superior contributions to the advancement of nursing and healthcare on both a national and global level, he was inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, as an honorary member.
His accomplishments also are widely celebrated across his home state of Georgia, where Jeff is a Georgia Technology Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the prestigious Phoenix Award, honoring the strongest leaders in Georgia’s health IT industry. Since founding Sharecare, Jeff has been recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a “Health Care Hero,” one of Atlanta’s Most Admired CEOs and recently was named to the Power 100, their annual list featuring people who influence the city’s business community and broader economy.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Jeff has been on numerous boards for public, private, and charitable organizations over the years, and currently serves as chairman of Forbes Travel Guide and sits on the board of Endeavor Atlanta.
