Ortberg currently serves as the co-chairman of the Board of Directors of FIRST, an organization that hosts annual robotics competitions in schools. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of Aptiv PLC, a global technology company and an industry leader in vehicle systems architecture, as well as on the University of Iowa Engineering Advisory Board. He also served as Chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association.

The company was formerly known as Raytheon Technologies Corporation and changed its name to RTX Corporation in July 2023. RTX Corporation was incorporated in 1934 and is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
