Since 2018, Aberle has directed the wireless technology company’s business development, strategy, operations, and investment activity. Before starting XCOM, he spent 17 years at Qualcomm, serving as the organization’s president from 2014 to 2018.
Aberle held a variety of leadership roles at Qualcomm. In 2008, he joined the organization’s executive committee, serving as executive vice president and president of Qualcomm Technology Licensing between 2008 to 2011, and as executive vice president and group president between 2011 to 2014.
During his time at the company, Aberle oversaw the company’s business units, marketing functions, global strategy, and international markets. He contributed to the resolution of several licensing-related disputes, and led the company through a season of growth as it expanded its IP licensing business and established a 4G licensing program.
Aberle was first introduced to Qualcomm through his experience serving as outside counsel for the company while working as a lawyer with Pillsbury Madison & Sutro and Heller Erhman.
He currently serves as a board member for both The Alliance for SoCal Innovation and EvoNexus.
Aberle earned his B.A. in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
