Kerr served as Assistant General Counsel of Luminex Corporation, a life-sciences company, from April 2008 until July 2011, and as Associate General Counsel of SigmaTel, Inc., a semiconductor company, from May 2005 until it was acquired by Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. in April 2008. Kerr began his legal career as a corporate and securities associate attorney at what is now the Austin office of DLA Piper (formerly known as Gray Cary) from October 2000 until May 2005. Kerr holds a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, a master's degree in professional accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
