Ted Kummert Biography and Net Worth

Ted brings engineering and management excellence to Madrona and works with Madrona’s portfolio companies to help them navigate through engineering, business and management changes.  Ted joined Madrona for the first time as Venture Partner in 2013, and then moved to Apptio to lead their engineering and product teams.  Following the successful IPO, Ted returned to Madrona in 2017.  In 2019, Ted joined portfolio company UiPath as  EVP, Products and Engineering at UIPath.  Ted continues to work as a Venture Partner with Madrona.

During his four years at Apptio as EVP of Engineering and Cloud Operations. Ted built a world-class engineering and product team and transformed Apptio’s core platform from a custom solution to distinct, SaaS applications designed for enterprise and federal CIOs and CFOs. Under Ted’s leadership, the team conducted a major modernization of Apptio’s underlying technology, developed real-time analytics for leading public cloud providers, and built the industry’s standard model for IT costing into Apptio’s applications. Ted also led the release of new cost transparency, planning, benchmarking and IT chargeback applications while tuning Apptio’s technology to the needs of public sector IT leaders.

Prior to joining Madrona in 2013, Ted was Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Data Platform Group where he led the development of several key Microsoft enterprise products including SQL Server, SQL Server Parallel Data Warehouse, Windows Azure Data Services and Microsoft’s business intelligence and big data offerings.  During his two decade tenure at Microsoft, Ted led teams across a broad set of technologies, including operating systems, consumer online services, enterprise security and enterprise application platform. Prior to Microsoft, Ted worked for Apple and Hewlett-Packard.
