Global Head of Regulatory Affairs of Northern Trust

Jane Karpinski is an executive vice president at Northern Trust and Global Head of Regulatory Affairs, a role she assumed in December 2023. In this role, Jane is responsible for overseeing continuous enhancement of risk management and controls globally, as well as maintaining constructive relationships with the organization’s global regulators. Jane is a member of the Corporation's Management Group.

Previously, Jane was Northern Trust’s Chief Audit Executive, a post she held from May 2017 to December 2023, and in which Jane had overall responsibility for the Audit Services function globally. From June 2013 to April 2017 Jane was Corporate Controller. In this role, Jane had overall responsibility for all aspects of Financial Control and External Reporting for the Corporation. This included managing the Financial Accounting and Control team, Accounting Policy group, SEC Reporting team, and Regulatory Reporting and Tax departments globally.

Jane joined Northern Trust in January 2006 as Head of Financial Control for the UK and Channel Islands. In August 2007, she was named Chief Financial Officer for EMEA, responsible for all financial management in the region, as well as serving as Finance Director for all UK legal entities. From May 2012 to June 2013, she was the International Chief Financial Officer adding to her role responsibility for the financial management of the APAC region and Canada. In this role, Jane was responsible for all financial management for Northern Trust’s international locations, as well as Finance Director for its UK legal entities.

Before joining Northern Trust in 2006, Jane spent 18 months consulting at Abbey National PLC and Lloyds TSB PLC. Prior to this, she worked for ten years for Abbey National Treasury Services (now part of the Santander Group) in a number of roles including: Head of Short-Term Markets Business Support, Chief Operating Officer - International, and Head of Financial Control. Before this, she worked at Price Waterhouse for approximately nine years in both the Audit and Tax groups.

Jane has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Southampton University.  She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
