Daniel Creekmur serves as NiSource Senior Vice President and President, Gas Utilities. He has responsibility for NiSource's gas utility companies in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland.
Prior to assuming this role in June 2020, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Columbia Gas of Ohio, a natural gas subsidiary of NiSource Inc. since 2015. He had profit & loss responsibility for the company and oversight of the execution of operations, construction, risk management, regulatory, legislative and external strategies, with a focus on delivering safe, reliable and efficient natural gas service to 1.4 million customers across the company’s 61 county service territory.
Previously he served as Vice President and General Manager of Operations for Columbia Gas of Ohio. He was responsible for all field operations activities and for the safe operation and maintenance of distribution pipelines and other facilities providing natural gas service to customers.
From 2011 to 2013, Creekmur served as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs for Columbia Gas of Ohio. He led Columbia’s regulatory initiatives and strategy, economic development, local government policy and strategic initiatives functions, as well as its energy assistance and energy efficiency programs. Creekmur began his career with Columbia Gas of Ohio in 2007 as an attorney, handling matters before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and Public Service Commission of Kentucky.
Creekmur encouraged Columbia Gas of Ohio employees to give back to their communities through board service and volunteerism. Under his leadership, the company launched its Columbia Cares philanthropic program and Columbus Business First honored Columbia Gas of Ohio as Benefactor of the Year at the 2016 Corporate Caring Awards.
Creekmur currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Capital University, and the Board for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. He previously served as Chair of Champions for the Habitat Housing Initiatives, Habitat for Humanity-Mid-Ohio’s five-year plan to transform communities through homebuilding, rehabs and repairs. Creekmur has also served on the Board of Directors for Amethyst, Inc., the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio Gas Association. In addition, he served as a Campaign Cabinet Member for the United Way of Central Ohio.
Creekmur serves as a board member of the NiSource Charitable Foundation and the Executive Committee of NiPAC.
A native of Beavercreek, Ohio, Creekmur earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Miami University and a law degree from Capital University.
