David Wells is the former chief financial officer of Netflix. He currently holds board positions with The Trade Desk, Inc., Hims & Hers Health, Inc., TransferWise, Inc., Innovation for Poverty Action, and the American Red Cross.

Wells began working for Netflix in March of 2004, starting as vice president of finance planning and analysis. He took on the role of CFO in 2010.

During his time with the company, it grew rapidly from a DVD-by-mail service into an international streaming giant and entertainment powerhouse. Prior to Netflix, he served as an engagement manager and senior consultant at Deloitte Consulting LLP for six years.

Wells earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and English from the University of Virginia and holds an M.B.A. and master’s degree in public policy from The University of Chicago.
