Michele D. Trolli is an Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Operations and Enterprise Initiatives with M&T Bank. In this role, she leads several critical operations, including banking services, corporate services, business continuity and integration, as well as the Enterprise Transformation Office. Currently, she is also overseeing the successful integration of People’s United Bank into M&T Bank and Wilmington Trust.
She is a key member of M&T’s Management Group, which is responsible for the company’s strategic direction under the leadership of M&T Bank Chairman and CEO René Jones.
Trolli also contributes importantly to M&T’s culture. She is leading the bank’s response to the pandemic, including leading the New Normal Taskforce to ensure the health and safety of employees and customers during the pandemic as well as helping define new ways of working. Trolli also serves as the executive sponsor of M&T’s Women’s Interest Network (WIN) – WNY Chapter, a group that supports personal and professional empowerment of women in the Western New York region.
Under Trolli’s leadership, M&T unveiled a major investment in talent attraction in the WNY tech ecosystem through the development of the M&T Tech Hub at Seneca One in 2019. The new workspace is dedicated to cultivating and growing M&T’s tech team within a modern and collaborative environment, thereby attracting talent, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Overall, the Tech Hub will contribute to the revitalization of the region at-large.
Trolli has more than 30 years of experience in banking, investments and technology. Prior to joining M&T, she held the position of Senior Director with Franklin Templeton, a world-wide investment management company, and was an Executive Vice President and Development Director of KeyCorp, where she directed KeyBank’s application development division.
She received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from John Carroll University.
Trolli brings the same level of leadership and enthusiasm to her community as she does to M&T. She serves on the board of Invest Buffalo Niagara, which works to attract new businesses, support expansion, entrepreneurship, and regional economic development. She is also a founding member and co-chair of WNY Women’s Foundation’s ALL IN, where she shares her dynamic workplace perspective to help the next generation of female leaders achieve personal and professional goals.
Trolli served on the Buffalo Federal Reserve Board and on the mobile banking board of the Clearing House Association, the nation’s first banking association which today advocates on regulatory, legislative, and legal public policy issues on behalf of the U.S. banking industry before policy makers. She also served for six years as the director-at-large for the Bank Administration Institute (BAI).
She also served as director and chair-elect of the board at The Buffalo Zoo. An active member for years, she headed the Strategic Planning Committee and helped develop the zoo’s wildlife conservation plan.
In 2020 and 2014, Trolli was recognized by American Banker as one of the “25 Most Powerful Women to Watch,” an honor awarded annually to recognize influential female leaders and executives who provide exemplary work in the fields of banking and finance.
