Belo Corporation from December 2007 through September 2013, when he assumed the role of vice chairman of the Board of Directors. He has served as non-executive chairman of Belo Corp. since February 2008. During his 35-year career with Belo Corp., he held several executive positions, including chairman and chief executive officer from January 1987 through January 2008; president from January 1985 through December 1986 and again from January 1994 through February 2007; and chief operating officer from January 1984 through December 1986. Robert has been a member of the board of directors of Kimberly-Clark Corporation since 1996, served as that company's Lead Director from 2004-2008. He serves on the Advisory Council for Harvard University's Center for Ethics and the Board of Visitors of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. From 2002 to March 2006, he served as a member of the FCC's Media Security and Reliability Council, which was part of former President Bush's Homeland Security initiative.
