Brian Fishel serves as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for KeyCorp, leading the Human Resources function for the enterprise. As CHRO, Brian oversees staffing, talent management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, HR Operations, and HR generalist support to the lines of business and staff functions. In addition, Brian serves as the executive sponsor for Key’s African Heritage Business Impact & Networking Group as well as Management’s liaison to the Compensation and Organization Committee of the Board of Directors for KeyCorp.
Brian has over 30 years of broad Human Resources experience across multiple industries. He has extensive experience working with the senior most levels of organizations in the areas of C-Suite Succession; Merger Acquisition, Culture Integration, Team Effectiveness, Leadership Development, and Executive Assessment, Development, and Coaching.
Brian joined Key in 2013 to lead the enterprise’s staffing and talent management activities. Previously, Brian spent 15 years with Bank of America in various senior level talent management and organization development roles, including the Global Head of Executive Development and Chief Learning Officer for the company.
Prior to Bank of America, Brian held various senior-level Human Resource Generalist roles with The Coca-Cola Company, providing human capital advisory support to their Global Marketing, Communications and Finance Functions, The Minute Maid Group, and their International Bottling operations.
Brian also worked for Pizza Hut, at the time a subsidiary of PepsiCo. He was responsible for leading Pizza Hut's executive development program targeted at their senior field sales and operations executives throughout North and Central America. He also led U.S. field sales and operations training.
Brian currently serves on the board of Business Volunteers Unlimited, a Cleveland-based non-profit organization responsible for engaging businesses and non-profits to work together to strengthen the Northeast Ohio Community. He is the co-chair for the business development committee of the board.
Brian is a frequent national speaker on the topics of Talent Management and Executive Development. He is a founding member of the Best Practice Institute’s board and has served on the Harvard Publishing Advisory Committee and the Conference Board’s Learning and Organizational Performance roundtable. He has written and published several articles and chapters in various books and magazines on a variety of leadership topics.
In 2015, Brian was the recipient of the prestigious Talent Management Executive of the Year Award from Crain’s Business Magazine recognizing him for Human Resources Excellence. In 2020, Brian was named to the Top CHRO – The People Leaders to Watch list by N2Growth.
Brian holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Education from Miami University of Ohio.
