Randall “Randy” Mott is the chief information officer for General Motors (GM), a role he has held since 2019.

He joined the company in 2012 in a global IT strategy role. At the time that he joined, 90 percent of IT staffing was outsourced. Mott chose to bring those jobs back into the company, bringing in 10,000 new roles and hiring 3,000 recent college graduates.

He previously served as CIO and EVP at Hewlett-Packard from 2005 to 2012, CIO and SVP at Dell from 2000 to 2005, and CIO and SVP at Walmart, where he spent 22 years.

Mott's leadership has earned him recognition globally. In 2007, he received the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions Association’s Roger Milliken Career Achievement Award for his contributions to the retail and consumer industries through the development and execution of supply chain standards and best practices. He also received the Fisher-Hopper Prize for Lifetime Achievement in CIO Leadership in 2017.

Mott holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
