John Dietrich is executive vice president and chief financial officer of FedEx Corporation. Dietrich is responsible for all aspects of the corporation’s global financial functions, including financial planning, treasury, tax, accounting and controls, internal audit, investor relations, and corporate development. He is also a member of the six-person Executive Committee, which plans and executes the corporation’s strategic business activities.
Dietrich has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation and air cargo industries. Prior to joining FedEx, he held numerous leadership roles at Atlas Air Worldwide, including serving as president and chief executive officer, and member of the Board of Directors. Dietrich was appointed president of Atlas Air Worldwide in 2019 and served as COO with responsibility for all aspects of the company’s global operations from 2006 until assuming the CEO position from 2020 to 2023. After joining Atlas Air Worldwide in 1999 as associate general counsel, he was promoted to senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary in 2004. Dietrich also worked for United Airlines for 13 years before joining Atlas. He currently serves as Chairman of the National Defense Transportation Association, a director on the board of AAR Corporation, a member of the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association, and a member and former Chairman of the National Air Carrier Association.
Dietrich earned a bachelor’s degree in law from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and a doctor of law from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
