James R. “Jim” Chapman is executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer.
He joined the company in 2013 and became Treasurer in 2016. He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in November 2018. His direct responsibilities include corporate and financial planning, investor relations accounts, tax, treasury, mergers and acquisitions and asset management.
Chapman came to Dominion Energy after more than 20 years in investment banking and corporate finance, principally related to the utility and energy sector. Among his roles, he was managing director and head of Asia Pacific Power & Utilities Investment Banking at Barclays plc, as well as holding similar senior roles at Barclays and its predecessor firm, Lehman Brothers, in New York and overseas.
In his career, Chapman has worked with dozens of power sector and utility companies with strategic and financing transactions, on five continents. After being based for more than eight years in Asia, five in New York and five in Russia, he relocated with his family to his native Virginia in 2013.
Chapman earned a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Auburn University and his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. He serves on the Board of Virginia Humanities and of Virunga Power International, which is involved in rural electrification in East Africa.
