Mark Whittenburg Biography and Net Worth

Mark Whittenburg is the general counsel and secretary for Core & Main, a leading distributor of waterworks and fire protection infrastructure products in the U.S. As a member of the executive team, Whittenburg advises Core & Main’s senior leadership and board of directors on legal and strategic matters such as merger and acquisition activities, as well as other growth opportunities. His team of legal and compliance professionals focus on all legal, environmental health and safety, and Department of Transportation contractual and compliance issues in real estate, fleet, construction and corporate governance. They also oversee compliance and legal matters, including contracts, commercial transactions, employment law, litigation and regulatory affairs.

Prior to joining Core & Main, Whittenburg was based in Shanghai where he served as vice president of legal for the Asia Pacific region of Autoliv, a $10 billion Swedish automotive safety company. His earlier career included 15 years with GE, where he served in multiple roles with increased responsibility throughout the U.S. and Far East, including general counsel for GE Intelligent Platforms and chief compliance officer for GE China.

Whittenburg earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law as well as his bachelor’s degree from Hanover College, where he also serves on the board of trustees. He has volunteered with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Legal Aid Justice Center, Volunteer Lawyers for the Poor and the Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program. He also served as the president of the University of Cincinnati College of Law Alumni Association board of trustees. Whittenburg was awarded the 2020 General Counsel of the Year by the St. Louis Business Journal.
