Catherine Hendrian Biography and Net Worth

Catherine A. Hendrian is Senior Vice President of Human Resources for CMS Energy and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy. She was elected to this position in April 2017.

Hendrian has overall responsibility for the company’s people and culture strategy. This includes cultivating a culture and creating an employee experience in which all co-workers can thrive and succeed. Hendrian’s responsibilities also extend to traditional human resources activities., These include employee benefits, compensation, organization and workforce development, diversity and inclusion, equal employment opportunity, workforce relations, labor relations and all human resources services for nearly 8,000 CMS Energy and Consumers Energy employees.

Hendrian previously served as Consumers Energy’s vice president of human resources, after gaining critical experience as a human resources director working with several departments throughout the company including customer operations and quality; information technology; rates; governmental, regulatory and public affairs; finance; and legal.

Hendrian joined Consumers Energy in 2002 as senior human resources consultant. She has served in various strategy and workforce development roles of increasing responsibility, including human resources strategy, performance and communications director and human resources director. These experiences uniquely position Hendrian to guide and shape the employee experience that will underpin CMS Energy’s future.

Prior to joining Consumers Energy, she worked at Ford Motor Company in various human resources roles from 1993 to 2002.

Hendrian earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with specialization in organizational psychology from the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree in human resources and organizational development from Eastern Michigan University.
