Gerald E. Bisbee, Jr., PhD, has been a member of the Cerner Board of Directors since February 1988.

He is founder, chairman and CEO of Think Medium, a digital media company focused on healthcare leadership. Prior to Think Medium, Bisbee was co-founder, chairman and CEO of The Health Management Academy, a network of leading healthcare executives. Bisbee served as executive chairman of The Academy from September 2018 to July 2020.

Bisbee was president, CEO and chairman of the Board of Directors of ReGen Biologics, Inc. He was also president, CEO and a director of Aros Corporation, as well as chairman of the Board of Directors during two terms - the second time occurring when ReGen and Aros Corporation merged.

Prior, Bisbee was chairman and CEO of APACHE Medical Systems, Inc., a critical care outcomes company. He was director of the healthcare group at Kidder, Peabody & Co., president of the Hospital Research and Educational Trust (the American Hospital Association’s research and development affiliate) and a faculty member and acting director of the graduate program in hospital administration at Yale University.

Bisbee earned a Ph.D. in chronic disease epidemiology from Yale University. His dissertation is part of the development of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs). He has an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

He has published journal articles and co-authored books in the areas of health finance and health services. He also co-authored the first national study on the incidence and prevalence of musculoskeletal conditions.
