As EVP, Chief Financial Officer, Enrique Mayor-Mora is responsible for leading the financial planning, accounting, treasury, internal audit, investor relations, tax, real estate, procurement, and facilities functions for CarMax.
Mr. Mayor-Mora has been instrumental in driving CarMax’s capital allocation strategy, which has help transform the company from a traditional retailer into a leading omni-channel and e-commerce organization through investments in building internal capabilities as well as through strategic investments and acquisitions. This includes a $50 million investment for a minority stake in Edmunds that is slated to become a full acquisition in June 2021.The Edmunds transaction will strengthen digital consumer engagement and deepen company focus on enhancing the online customer experience. He also leads the design of CarMax’s capital structure, which is maintained through the share repurchase program and debt vehicles. Under his leadership, the share repurchase program has returned $2.2 billion to shareholders since 2016. Additionally, he has led CarMax’s store expansion strategy since 2012, transforming the store footprint and network by focusing on agile, efficient, and cross-functional locations.
Upon being elected vice president of treasury in 2016, Mr. Mayor-Mora ensured the continued growth and funding optionality of CarMax Auto Finance by leading the expansion of funding programs beyond the asset-backed securitization market. These programs include multiple facilities with various partner banks.
Prior to joining CarMax in 2011 as vice president of finance, he served as vice president of financial planning and analysis and investor relations at Denny’s Corporation from 2005 to 2011. While at Denny’s, he designed and advanced the re-franchising program, resulting in the sale of over 300 franchise units, transforming the company to a franchised based model. He also served as vice president of finance at Gap, Inc. from 2001 to 2005, following several financial positions of increased responsibility. Prior to the Gap Inc. he worked at Deloitte Consulting Group.
Mr. Mayor-Mora was recognized as one of the Top 100 Latinos in Corporate America by Latino Leaders Magazine in both 2019 and 2020. He is also a member of World 50, Inc.
He currently serves on the board of ChildFund International. Previously, he served on the board of Communities In Schools of Richmond from 2016 to 2020, including two years as Chair of the Audit Committee.
Mr. Mayor-Mora received his MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from McGill University.
