Daniel Levin is the former chief operating officer and current board member at Box. He also operates a mentorship and coaching business, Levin Leadership Group.
Levin joined Box as a member of its board of directors in December 2009 when the company had just 50 employees and $10 million in revenue. He came on full-time as COO in July 2010, walked the company through its tenuous 2014 IPO, and helped transform it from a cloud consumer storage company to a broader cloud content management platform. At Levin’s departure in 2017, the company had 1,600 employees and was on track for $500 million in revenue.
Prior to Box, Levin was an operating partner at Khosla Ventures, the interim CEO for Picateers, and he spent just over six years in various leadership roles at Intuit, including senior vice president and general manager of QuickBooks Group, vice president of product management, and vice president and general manager of the company’s healthcare business.
He also held the roles of chief technology officer and senior vice president at ReplayTV, Inc. and principal at Books That Work
Levin earned his bachelor’s degree at Princeton University, where he created an independent major in statistics and computer graphics as the university had no computer science program at the time.
