James Zelter Biography and Net Worth

Since joining Apollo in 2006, Jim has led the broad expansion of Apollo’s credit platform, overseeing growth to approximately $350 billion in assets under management. Jim also co-founded and serves as Co-Chair of the Apollo Women Empower (AWE), the firm’s women’s network. Prior to Apollo, Jim was with Citigroup Inc. and its predecessor companies in a variety of roles including Chief Investment Officer of Citigroup Alternative Investments. Before joining Citigroup, he was a high-yield trader at Goldman Sachs.

Jim earned his degree in Economics from Duke University. He sits on the board of directors of DUMAC, the investment management company that oversees the Duke University Endowment, and the Partnership for New York City, a non-profit organization that helps solve public challenges, create jobs and strengthen neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs. In addition, Jim serves on the Board of Fellows of Weill Cornell Medicine, one of the leading academic medical centers in the United States. He is also on the board of directors of Toigo, an organization focused on building stronger, more diverse organizations through the inclusion and advancement of under-represented talent, as well as the Bridge Golf Foundation, which is committed to using the game of golf to improve life outcomes for young men of color in Harlem, New York.
